Reference summary · Keyword · Rules Tome 2.0.8 § 602.19
Ward
Opposing non-strike actions cannot target a card with Ward.
How it works
Rule explanation
Ward protects any card with the keyword, not just Characters, from opposing actions that do not produce a strike. Ward alone does not block strike-producing actions or their strikes; all other targeting restrictions still apply.
At the table
Example
An Item with Ward cannot be targeted by an opposing action that only destroys an Item. A spell that performs a strike is not blocked by Ward alone.
Watch for this
Common mistake
Ward is not blanket immunity to spells and does not cancel strikes.
